The Bengal College of Engineering and Technology was established in 2001 as a Centre of Excellence in technical education for promising future technocrats of India.
At present the college offers UG programme in Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engg, Electronics and Communication Engg., Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engg., Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engg., Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg. and Electrical Engineering and PG courses in Biotechnology, Computer Science & Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Business Administration (MBA) and Computer Application (MCA). Approved intake in U.G. course is 60 in each branch except CSE, ECE, and IT which have 120 each.
BCET has around 200 highly experienced, qualified and dedicated faculty for all round development of the students. The prime focus is on building teacher-student relationship in order to develop high academic environment, motivating students to increase their efficiency and excel in their field of learning.
The college feels proud to have well equipped state of the art computing facilities and modern laboratories for extensive practical training. It has more that 1000 Desktops and TFTS with latest configuration along with 24 hrs leased line internet connectivity of bandwidth 15.0 mbps raw, unshared through optical fibre network.
The students secure good ranks in GATE,CAT,GRE, 100 % success rate in semester exams and obtain lucrative research scholarship in US and UK Universities.
The Central Library conforms to international standards where access time for collection, lending and returning books is minimum. At present the library has 51512 volumes of books with 4824 titles of different subjects. It also subscribes for 2260 full text e-journals and 85 national and international journals and magazines.
Its endeavour to impart quality technical and management education, has earned ISO 9001: 2008 certification.
BCET has recently created an example in West Bengal by achieving the NBA Accreditation for four of its courses under the New Outcome Based System of Accreditation under the Washington Accord. This example will inspire other colleges to achieve NBA Accreditation of their courses and go a long way in improving the standard of technical education in West Bengal. BCET has also been conferred OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING INSTITUTE (EAST) Award by ABP News for two consecutive times in a row i.e. 2013 and 2012.
The college is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, recognized by the Govt. of West Bengal and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata.
